Dave Cantin Group Advises Mangino Family on Sale of Mangino Chevrolet and Mangino Buick GMC

Nearly 50-year family-owned dealership legacy continues under same name, new ownership following succession-planning process
NEW YORK – October 28, 2026 – Dave Cantin Group (DCG), a leading automotive retail M&A advisory firm, today announced that it was the exclusive sell-side advisor for the Mangino family’s sale of Mangino Chevrolet in Amsterdam, New York, and Mangino Buick GMC in Ballston Spa, New York, to Georgica Auto Holdings, LLC. DCG Managing Director Talon Fee advised the Mangino family on this transaction.
The transaction concludes a succession-planning process that began before the Mangino family had decided whether to sell the business it built over nearly five decades. DCG worked with the family to evaluate its options, including continued family ownership, before the family ultimately determined a sale was the right path.
The buyer will retain the Mangino name, reflecting the value of the businesses’ longstanding reputations in their communities. Mike Coffey, a longtime operator of the dealerships, will remain with the business and oversee both stores under the new ownership. Coffey is also the spouse of one of the second-generation selling owners, Tina Mangino-Coffey.
This transaction reflects several trends shaping dealership succession and automotive retail M&A:
- Succession does not always mean transferring ownership to the next generation. Second- and third-generation Mangino family members were involved in the business, but the family determined that a sale offered the right path forward.
- A dealership’s reputation can be a valuable asset in a transaction. Georgica Auto Holdings plans to retain the Mangino name, preserving a brand established in upstate New York nearly five decades ago.
- Management continuity can help bridge an ownership transition. Coffey will remain with the business, providing continuity for employees, customers and the community.
- Succession planning can begin before a dealer decides to sell. DCG first helped the family evaluate its long-term options and then, after the decision to sell, conducted a comprehensive process to identify the right buyer.
The Mangino family’s automotive retail history dates to 1978, when Ralph Mangino Sr. purchased Ballston Motors in Ballston Spa and transformed it into Mangino Pontiac. General Motors later awarded the family the Buick franchise. When GM discontinued Pontiac, the family added GMC.
The family’s second generation expanded the business in 2004 with the acquisition of Longwell Chevrolet in Amsterdam, which became Mangino Chevrolet.
